The 3rd Pan-African Congress of Catholic Laity was held From 4 to 10 September 2012 in Yaoundé. It was attended by over 300 lay people from 37 African countries.

It comprised 40 ecclesial movements and associations around the world. 5 cardinals, thirty bishops, many priests and religious men and women as well as several volunteers from various diocesan communities in Yaoundé were among the delegates. It was organized and chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Laity His Eminence Cardinal Stanislaw Rylko and assisted by his Sec-retary Most Rev. Clemens.

The Congress reminded the baptismal vocation of the laity, calling them to take their respon-sibilities in announcing the Gospel to the world (CFL 7 and 33) specifically in Africa (AM 161). His Eminence John Card. Djué, Archbishop of Nairobi took the opportunity to invite them to redis-cover the Word of God in the context of a greater commitment to the New Evangelization (AM 168).

These field missionaries are now being called for greater awareness at the (national, re-gional, diocesan, parish and SCCs, levels) which will support the efforts of this promotion. The laity realized the challenge of training (organized groups, as-sociation of men and women move-ments, adults, youth and children) and the orientation of teaching curricula as defined by the social doctrine of the Church (Biblical, human, civic, political and ecclesiastical)
